About Gisele
After growing up in NH surrounded by pristine beauty, Gisele moved west and earned a BFA in illustration at Cal State Long Beach. After spending years working as a commercial digital artist and illustrator, painting still was her passion and became her voice. She later received an MA in painting at Cal State Fullerton and from figurative works to abstraction, she continued to experiment with paint and began the journey that continues today in landscape painting.
After 25 years in Long Beach, CA, she returned to NH to be close to family, and sought solace back where she came from, in nature. The landscapes etched in her mind were her inspiration and she spent 10 years exploring her home state with the brush. After the passing of her parents, she returned to CA and now lives full-time in the beauty of the Central Coast, and continues to explore the scenes that move her soul. Working mostly from photos, the paintings are done in her studio. Recently she began exploring painting outdoors on location.
“This body of work is a new exploration in plein air painting of the local area. My hope is to experience the environment, sounds, smells, wind, sun as I paint, and to move from working from photos in my studio to outdoors which is changing the way I handle paint and giving me the ability to create a landscape that may become more unique to me and the viewer might just experience some of what I felt and saw."
